What do I have to be careful for in my life ? The padlock is to show that since my accident, people are always telling what to do or not. I want to show them that I can open all the doors I want. Nothing is going to stop me. I am open to all opportunities. The red heart is for the people I am going to meet and like or love in the future. Football has always been a part of my life, even before the accident. I continued training and I am getting better and better even if I didn’t play a game since my accident. The orange heart is to represent all the people that don’t want to talk to me or even bind with me because I don’t have a car or don’t have much money to do stuff with them.

Explanation of Mask: I once was a very successful business man (3 bicycle stores) and was hit by a car while biking because I didn’t look before crossing the road. I was too concentrated on my work.  I lost everything (my stores, my money, my cars, my house).  The right side of my mask represents my old self with a bike and a baseball bat.  The left side represents now.  It is darker. I feel responsible for what happened to me.  I do feel better every day, but still angry to have lost everything.

Name: Roxane P.

City: Quebec City

Brain Injury: car accident (passenger)

Explanation of Mask: This mask represents who I am. On the right side, the post-its are everything that was altered by the impact (I was in a car accident as a passenger and was the only one so badly hurt).  I put them on the right side because it is also the side of the impact.  The left side is darker, but not sad. I wanted to symbolize the hemiparesis I got after the accident.  The three hearts stand for what is very important for me today (sports-work-boyfriend).
