Explanation of Mask:
Anguished over loss of previous self.
On July 13, 2020 a police officer t-boned my car on the passenger side at 60 mph in Watford City, ND. I included a picture of the officer’s Tahoe and my Kia Optima. The damages to my brain have permanently changed my ability to function on a daily basis (executive functioning.) The changes have also potentially robbed me of my career as a family nurse practitioner and any future employment.
To help my depression, I look at inspiring quotes (I included two on my mask.) I try my best to look at/remember how far I have come and my future potential.
The gems represent the numerous scars my brain injury has caused, but some scars have changed me for the better.
The green color represents brain injury awareness.
